Practical solutions for certification, regulatory strategy and business challenges across the organic sector.

Video Replay: Where’s the (Organic) Beef?

Can the U.S. organic livestock sector continue to grow without a corresponding expansion of domestic organic feed production—and, if not, what market structures, investments, and commitments are needed to close the gap?

Growth in organic meat, dairy, eggs, and poultry depends on reliable access to competitively priced, verifiably organic feed. Yet domestic production of organic corn, soybeans, small grains, and other ingredients remains constrained, geographically uneven, and vulnerable to price and production volatility.

Imports help bridge the gap but can introduce longer, less transparent supply chains and greater exposure to disruption and fraud. Meanwhile, U.S. farmers considering organic transition face three years of uncertainty, limited infrastructure, and no guarantee of a buyer. This panel examined organic feed as strategic infrastructure—and identifid the market commitments, investment, and coordination needed to support responsible growth across the U.S. organic livestock sector.
